| History of Restaurants |
Since the start of recorded history people would go to hotels and road-side caves that provided food to traveling visitors, infantrymen and peasants. One wouldn't consider this a cafe as the grub was poorly prepared, and where a respectable dish was one that wouldn't make you keel over and fill you up with some unknown illness. These were lifeless tiny places with not very much to select from than perhaps some poorly prepared beef and some plant offerings. But when in history did true restaurants appear. Eateries which could really be called a place where quality home cooking was offered and which would make some significant visitor or battle-worn general pleased? The 1st mention of such a place was at the Roman Baths nearly two thousand years back.Once the guts of Rome where thousands of Roman non combatants, nobles and royalty would clean themselves and was also the hub of tattle, social exchange and a place to make new business contacts and perhaps, if you were fortunate, find a good date. In the baths there had been a cafe / cafe where the standard roman gastronomes were served and were, allegedly, the grub was quite good. The idolization of this conglomerate spread all though Rome and new eateries started showing up through the town and finally spread to all major towns where Rome had resolutely established them over time. In present, Rome has over 7000 eateries found only in or simply around its majestic centre. Of course one does not have to worry any more where the beef came from and if the cook has washed in the last month.
